The saga of reintroduction of the European Beaver Castor fiber continues. After I had written the last update in British Wildlife (12: 48), I recieved the following rather more optimistic news. Scottish Natural Heritage has now named the Knapdale area in Argyll as a possible site for the trial reintroduction.
