Through a naturalist’s eyes
I suspect that I am one of very few columnists not to have written about foot-and-mouth disease. I have not even been inconvenienced by the closing of the countryside, because I have been confined to home by the repair of one of my hips. All over the country wildlife surveys have been postponed, but I can continue my sole contribution - the BTO Garden BirdWatch. Convalescence and enforced idleness have had their advantages.
