Through a naturalist’s eyes
"There was a charming little scene on the top of the garden fence. One Robin approached another Robin with wings quivering and took a morsel of food from its beak. This is a common enough event in the garden, or anywhere else in the bird world. At first I thought one of a newly-fledged brood of Robins was still under parental care but I don't see red very well and it took a closer look to see that the first Robin had a red breast. My interpretation should have been that I was witnessing the ritual of courtship feeding."
