Twitcher in the Swamp

By - Peter Marren

"Not all change is bad’, claims Chris Thomas,  author of a new look at our ecological future  titled Inheritors of the Earth*. On the contrary, change creates new opportunities for wildlife. Mankind is apparently not the great destroyer we have been led to believe. For example, climate change is good because more species live in hot places than in cold ones. Invasive species, too, are good, mostly, because, thanks to escapes, we have more species than ever before. Accepting change is better than ‘fighting an impossible battle to freeze the planet in time’, says Thomas."
