Pine Martens in Scotland

In recent years, Pine Martens, Martes martes, have expanded their range south and east from north-west Scotland. However, as Pine Martens have increased in numbers, they have come into conflict with various economic and conservation interests. Pine Martens recieved full legal protection under Schedule 5 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981) in 1988.
