There has been both the recent introduction of the Hedgerow Incentive Scheme (HIS), which makes grant aid availiable for the restoration and good management of neglected hedges, and the promise of MP Peter Ainsworth's private member's bill which would introduce legal protection for hedges of outstanding ecological or historical interest.
