Reserve Focus – The Farne Islands, Northumberland
The Farne Islands are a group of between 15 and 28 islands (depending on the state of the tide), lying a few miles off the coast of Northumberland. They are one of the most exciting places in Britian for the naturalist. As a place to watch, and walk amongst, breeding seabirds they are probably without equal. The Farne Islands are wholly owned by the National Trust, and managed by them as a National Nature Reserve.
