At long last we have the official list of Special Areas of Conservation (SACs), published by the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) on behalf of the four territorial Environment Departments of the United Kingdom Government. These are only initial proposals, for public consultation, though this leaves little time, since Member States had to submit national lists to the European Commission by 5th June 1995.
