A good biological case is made for Eurasian Beaver, Castor fiber, reintroduction to Scotland by Kitchener and Conroy (1996). The public perception of the scheme, though, is not given enough consideration. Serious objections have been raised concerning the effect of Beavers on the inland fishing industry (e.g. Lever 1994; Carm 195).
