Through a naturalist’s eyes

"I have spent a fascinating and instructive week in the New Forest with a group from the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA). As the Forestry Commission's contribution to marking the new millenium, its ecologist Jonathan Spencer proposed that the SWLA should visit the New Forest to create a portrait that records the atmosphere of the forest as a haven of wildlife as well as a working place for its human inhabitants.
