Reserve Focus – Havergate Island NNR, Suffolk

Havergate is a 108ha island lying in the tidal River Ore in the Suffolk coast. It is protected from the North Sea by Orford Ness, a narrow peninsula of shingle that obliges the river to snake its way over 16km south from Aldeburgh before eventually reaching its mouth.
