Ecology of the Harlequin Ladybird – a new invasive species

The Harlequin Ladybird Harmonia axyridis is a native of Asia and a recent addition to the fauna of many other countries. This invasive ladybird is now widespread in the USA and parts of continental Europe, where it has been introduced as a biological control agent of aphids and scale insects.
