In 2005, the Rural Development Service (RDS) launched Environmental Stewardship, comprising Entry Level Stewardship, Organic Entry Level Stewardship and Higher Level Stewardship (HLS). These schemes provide landowners with a wide range of management options to protect and improve the countryside for its biodiversity, soil and water conservation, landscape and historic features."
