Through a naturalist’s eyes

"I have just come out of hospital after open-heart surgery. It was a fascinating experience but the constructive part of my stay in hospital (apart from having my life prolonged) was that I spent the days sitting by a window overlooking a large pond and surrounding garden. There was such a variety of bird life to watch that I never got bored. It was a pity that I could not see my monitor fro where I sat because I could have made observation on which birds set my pulse racing."
