"I was driving home one evening at the tail-end of February and was surprised to see a red warning triangle beside the road, alerting drivers to a toad crossing-place. It is a well-known site, and a low Netlon fence guides the ampibians to a tunnel where they can pass safely under the fairly busy country road. My surprise was that the sign was already in place, but toads and frogs always catch me out by appearing before I expect them."
