Through a naturalist’s eyes

"A while ago, I was sitting at my desk (my default location), deep in the throes of composition, when I became aware of the alarm calls of a tern. I have heard them so often in different parts of the world that it took a while to realise that this was the first time I had heard them at home. So I went outside to investigate. High overhead, a Common Tern was harassing a Red Kite. The kite was a new Home Record!"
