Lagoon creation for breeding and wintering waders and wildfowl. The area around Orford Ness, on the Suffolk coast, is noted particularly for its conservation interest. It is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Special Protection Area (SPA), Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and Ramsar site.
