Habitat management news

"The Curlew Numenius arquata has suffered a 63% population decline across the UK in the 43-year period up to 2013, The Breeding Bird Survey shows a 46% decline between 1995 and 2013, making it an Amber-listed species of Conservation Concern. In Wales, the Curlew is Redalisted, as a 2006 survey revealed an 81% decline since 1993. Prior to 2000, the winter population in Wales was 25% above the 1974 baseline level, and this, too, has dropped away. A similar situation is being reflected in Northern lreiand. It is believed that low productivity is being driven by poor habitat quality and/or predation."
