Letter from the far West Coast

"Living on a coastal hillside, surrounded by blackface sheep, I have not seen a Red Fox Vulpes vulpes for years – this, perhaps, due to assiduous midnight lamping patrols by the local gun club. It may also be that the few remaining foxes have decamped to the Dublin suburbs, there to be generously bin-fed and videoed on the lawn."
