Mixed messages about bats and turbines

Large wind turbines are blamed for killing bats. Developers claim limited or no impacts. Who is right? A recent report attempts to sift fact from fiction.

Whether or not bats are killed by wind turbines is hotly disputed at windfarm planning inquiries. Both sides have used the 2012 Bat Conservation Trust’s non-prescriptive survey guidelines (Hundt 2012) to argue their case.
