"When I walk through St James’s Park and see the delight on people’s faces as they feed grey squirrels (or ‘tree rats’ to some), I am reminded that many people come to nature conservation through a simple affection for animals. Love for other living creatures, especially cute cuddly ones, is a very strong emotion, and one that, generally, does our species credit."
