Brock’s Defence – a brief examination of the law relating to Badgers

Two new Acts of Parliament relating to Badgers, Meles meles, were passed in 1991, one of which – The Badgres Act, 1991 – considerably alters the scope of protection for this oft-persecuted species. The purpose of this article is to provide a brief résumé of the legislation as it now stands in England, Scotland and Wales.
