“I am interested in the tangled bank of UK wildlife organisations: they are numerous, each is different from the others and they have all evolved from some earlier state. The tangled bank is not a bad analogy: they are all struggling for existence in their own ways, with a common aim of creating a better world but competing for money, members and profile on the road to that common goal.”
