Reserve Focus – The Wyre Forest NNR, Hereford & Worcester

On the borders of Shropshire and Hereford & Worcester, not very far west of Birmingham, lies the largest continuous area of ancient woodland in England – the Wyre Forest. Some 2,834ha survive today, remnants of a much larger block of woodland. 600ha of the best of it, centred around the Dowles Brook, form the Wyre Forest National Nature Reserve.
