The distribution of the Holly Blue, Celastrina argiolus, in Britain reflects its liking for the warmer and sunnier climate of the south, where it may be frequently found in a variety of wooded or shrubby habitats, including many urban gardens and parks. Further north into the Midlands it is more local and less regularly encountered, and it only just reaches the extreme south-west of Scotland. In Wales it occurs in most lowland districts. It also has a scattered distribution across Ireland.
