Identification – British Bee-flies

There are over 6,600 species of fly in Britain, the majority of which are not obvious to the general naturalist. Bee-flies rival hoverflies in the public image as attractive members of this order. Nine species of bee-fly have been found in Britain this century, the majority of which deserve a high profile in conservation circles.
