Colin Tubbs was born in Portsmouth in 1937 and died in Southampton in October 1997. For most of his life he lived and worked in Hampshire, dedicating himself to studying and conserving its wildlife. Colin was an extraordinarily effective nature conservationist. He knew his County, its people and politics, but above all he knew its wildlife or, as he would say, its 'nature'.
