Reserve Focus: The Wetland Centre, London

This is probably one of the most innovative reserves in the UK. It is a far cry from the early-20th-century ideals of preserving unspoilt areas of countryside for their wildlife interest, but is an obvious development of the type of reserve with which the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) has been so much associated, where people and education, interpretation and new design techniques are brought together to provide a memorable experience of wildlife.
