Japanese Knotweed Fallopia japonica is considered by many to be the most invasive of the non-native plants that have become well established in the UK. The tall, dense growth outcompetes native plants and provides a poor habitat for native wildlife. Its release into the wild, without a licence, is an offence under the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981.
