Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve has had a problem with Common Cord-grass Spartina anglica for many years. The spread of this cord-grass, introduced to the site by local landowners around 1930 to stabilise the foreshore and inhibit erosion, appears to have accelerated since the construction of a causeway.
