"My garden and the surrounding hedgerows are full of berries but, if I was to say that this is a good year for berries, I would recieve letters from Tunbridge Wells and beyond telling me of local failures and reminding me of the dangers of generalisation. It must be the experience of most readers to have been asked 'Why aren't there any (name of species) this year?' "
