Habitat management news

The numerous old quarries on the Isle of Portland are of high conservation value for their limestone grassland flora. However, they are being rapidly shaded out by the invasive Small-leaved Cotoneaster Cotoneaster intefrifolius. The shrub's prostrate growth habit, and its ability to seed prolifically and root adventitously from stems, enable it to spread quickly across any grassland site.
