Through a naturalist’s eyes

"Unlike good children, the Tawny Owl is more often heard and not seen. A pair has been loudly vocal at the bottom of the garden and, as I lie awake in the small hours, their duets are music more than usual to my ears because I have not heard Tawnies here for a few years. The BTO website reports a 40% decrease nationwide in the last decade, and I had feared that our local birds had gone."
