As a timely follow-on to Chris Stoate's article in British Wildlife (BW 19: 102-108), the following describes RSPB Conservation Services' experience of producing woodfuel in Dorset. The Dorset Heathland Project (DHP) has been removing trees and scrub from heathland since 1989, with funding from EU LIFE and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
