British Wildlife and the Law

These are powerful words, spoken not by a nature conservationist but by a High Court Judge, Lord Justice Stephen Brown, in a judgement involving the illegal possession of specially protected birds of prey. The piece of legislation at the heart of his judgement, The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, is the premier piece of law that we have in Britain to protect our wildlife.
