Reserve Focus – Gait Barrows National Nature Reserve, Cumbria

Gair Barrows NNR, lying in the limestone area just south-east of the Lake District, protects some of the finest lowland limestone pavement in Britain, together with some excellent examples of marl lakes, limestone woodland, and pasture. Collectively, it is one of the finest reserves of north-west England, with many features of national importance. It covers a total of 106ha.
