Through a naturalist’s eyes

"April is a month for a lot of busy, but often rather furtive, goings-on in the countryside. The birds are building their nests, but the time to examine their handicraft is past. It was a winter pastime, after the leaves have fallen, to peer into hedges and bushes for the remains of abandoned nests, which stand exposed until destroyed by rains and gales or hidden by fresh foliage in spring."
