As a management tool, the use of large herbivores for conservation grazing is believed to be an effective way of maintaining and enhancing plant diversity. The effects on community composition remain uncertain. Studies to date have often given contrasting results, showing positive, neutral or negative impacts. These contrasting effects may be due to variable soil conditions."
