"In response to a request from Peter Marren for suggestions to add to his collection of folk-names for 'bugs', which he recently described in BW 20.6, the only names I could readily recall were those which I called the wasps whose nest I had sliced with a hedge-trimmer. They were justifiably bellicose, but I was able to drop the trimmer and run before too much pain was inflicted."
