The People's Trust for Endangered Species has led for some time on maintaining the current geographical range of the Stag Beetle Lucanus cervus. Pert of this work involves the development of an effective monitoring programme, including large-scale public surveys. The Great Stag Hunt in 1998, the first of these three, was hugely successful and was repeated again in 2002 and 2006."
