Britain’s first county flora: John Ray’s Cambridge Catalogue of 1660

It is difficult to think of any other series of scientific publications that parallels the British county floras for longevity and vigour. The first such flora, John Ray's Catalogus plantarum circa Cantabrigiam nascentium, was published in 1660.
