A recent booklet produced by The Wildlife Trusts, entitled Fish Live in Trees Too! River Rehabilitation and Large Woody Debris, highlights the vital role that Large Woody Debris (LWD), such as trees, branches and root plates plays in the natural rehabilitation of our degraded watercourses. LWD acts as a catalyst to trap gravels and silts, rise bed levels, and help to create habitat complexity within the channel."
