"The earliest bee that I have recorded was a bumblebee feeding on Winter-flowering Honeysuckle Lonicera fragrantissima on New Year's Day. (In fact, it was the latest bee, because it was a worker, presumably from a very long-surviving nest.) The flowers of my early honeysuckle provide welcome garden interest in the dead of winter to both me and early bees."
