Realising the wildlife potential of new native woodland. Through various grants and other initiatives, a considerable amount of native or near-native woodland has been established over the past 30 years or more. A number of species are dependent upon young woodland and can benefit from good design and management, and young woodland, at the same time as providing valuable habitat and contributing to broader ecological networks, can also complement local landscape character."
