In search of the last wolf of Scotland

After a hotly contested debate, Scotland did not vote for independence. As this tale suggests, the potential reintroduction of one of its most famous wild residents will also reveal strongly opposing views

This May, I walked across Scotland to research how locals would feel about a reintroduction of the wolf. Once on the verge of extinction in Europe, Grey Wolf Canis lupus numbers have quadrupled since 1970, and there is a growing call for the species’ reintroduction here.
