How to be wild

"Broadly speaking, there are two kinds of problem in conservation, the kind that makes you sad and the kind that makes you angry, and they're both legitimate responses to an ever more terrible world. It seems to me that anger is making a bit of a comeback, and that's probably a good thing. The problems that make you sad are the very big ones with distant and elusive solutions. Human over population, for example. It's hard to find an individual to blame for that one… so mostly we shove the issue to one side with a deep sigh and get on with stuff we can do something about."
