A pond is often the focal point of a wildlife garden. It is almost certainly the most important single element in attracting a range of wildlife, and worth having, even if you make no other concession to nature in your garden. However, although it is true to say that any patch of water will have some effect, there is no doubt that a well-designed, well-planted, well-managed pond will be of far greater value.
