Barn Owl Releases – Why the new controls are so necessary

All over Britain, in garden sheds and out-houses and in purpose-built aviaries, captive Barn Owls, Tyto alba, are being kept in readiness to breed more chicks during 1992 for release into the wild. The new crop of owlets will be tended by well-meaning breeders who feel that this is the best way to reverse the undoubted decline of this graceful species.
