Habitat management news

Common Frog, Rana temporaria, and Common Toad Bufo bufo, populations have declined seriously in Britain in recent decades, while Great Crested Newts, Triturus cristatus, are fully protected under Schedule 5 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act. Road development may threaten colonies through direct habitat loss, fragmentation of pond clusters and through injuy or death from road traffic.
