Habitat management news

The New Forest Cicada, Cicada montana, is the only cicada species found in Britain. It appears to have a very restricted distribution in the New Forest and is declining at the one main site from which it is currently known. The late J Grant worked on this population for many years. This work is now being continued by Dr Lena Ward of ITE Furzebrook and is funded by English Nature as part of the Species Recovery Programme.
